Classics at the Movies: Love collects classical pieces featured in romantic favorites of the silver screen, including The English Patient, Breaking the Waves, and Gone With the Wind. Don't expect music written exclusively for these films, however. The selections here come from heavy hitters like Strauss, Bach, Handel, and Mozart, and are culled from previously-released Naxos collections. But while the link between the pieces and the films in which they appeared may not be immediately apparent, their sweeping grandeur and startling intimacy still conjure up feelings of romance. Credit should also be given for clichéd, yet oddly effective, cover art.
