Alexandre Brussilovsky

Alexandre Brussilovsky was born in Ukraine in 1953, and completed his musical studies in 1979, at the Moscow Conservatory, where he studied with violinists Yuri Yankelevich and Felix Andrievesky, and later Leonid Kogan. Among his early successes include the Grand Prix at both the International Prague Competition (1969) and the Jacques Thibaud Competition (1975), where he also took the Albert Roussel Special Prize. Following an eight-year prohibition on foreign travel, Brussilovsky was finally able to leave the USSR in 1985, to take up residence in Paris. There he was able to resume full force his performance career, highlighted by the creation of his own ensemble, Ricercata de Paris.

Beyond his work as a soloist, and as director of Ricercata de Paris, Brussilovsky has performed with such esteemed artists as Yehudi Menuhin, Neeme Jarvi, Misha Maisky, Garry Hoffman, and the Lindsay Quartet. He is currently the Artistic Director of two chamber music festivals: Les MusiCimes in Courcheval, France; and the Days of Music Festival in Cyprus. In addition to his performance duties, Brussilovsky is very active as a music teacher, holding guest professorships at the Yehudi Menuhin School in London, and the Conservatoire National at Versailles. He frequently gives master classes, at institutions such as Indiana University at Bloomington, the Summer Academies in Geneva, and at several venues in New York City.
