Marina Gevorgyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia in 1978, and at age 7 entered the Spendiarov Music School, studying under pianist Hasmik Maukyan. She then continued at the Yerevan Tchaikovsky School of Music, where she worked with Professor Eleanora Voskanyan, graduating with Honors in 1994. From there she entered the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, studying first under Professor Zemfira Barsheghyan, and later with Professor Sergey Sarajyan; she completed her post-graduate work there in 2000.
To date, Marina has given numerous concerts throughout Armenia, and has performed with several outstanding orchestras and conductors, including famed Armenian conductor Emin Khachaturyan. She is also the hostess of an Armenian TV arts program entitled "Elite Circle", which has featured interviews with a number of well-known musicians from Armenia and elsewhere - including oboist Malcolm Messiter, whose music is likewise featured here at the Classical Archives. Marina is currently an assistant to Professor Sarajyan at the Yerevan Conservatory.
