Born in Ukraine, in 1960, Valery Goroholinsky studied clarinet at the Central Music School in Moscow, from 1973 to 1978, before transferring to the Moscow State Conservatory, where he graduated in 1983. Since 1980, Mr. Goroholinsky has been a featured soloist with numerous ensembles in Moscow, including the State Symphony Orchestra of the Central Television and All-Union Radio, under M.Shostakovitch; the State Symphony Orchestra of the Ministry of Culture, under G.Rozhedestvensky; the Russian National Symphony, under M.Pletnev; the Moscow Orchestra, under R.Freisitzer; and most recently the esteemed Moscow State Academic Philharmonic. Mr. Goroholinsky has received numerous awards, including First Prize in the All-Union Competition of Woodwind Players in Odessa, in 1983.
