Filipp Subbotin was born in Moscow in 1981, and began his musical training at the Schnitke Music College, where he studied piano with Sergey Masychev, and later with Berta Kremenshtein and Roustam Schaihutdinov. Since 2001, Filipp has studied at the Gnessin Music Academy in Moscow, where he works with Professor Vera Nosina.
Filipp can already claim First Prize at the "Art of the 21st Century Competition" in Vicenza, Italy (2001), and has participated in Master Classes with K. Blankenhaim, M. Dufuile, R. Polie, S. Pochekin, and I. Moravec. He has performed in numerous solo recitals throughout Russia, as well as in Italy, Spain, and the Czech Republic. Beyond solo work, moreover, Filipp performs with the ensembles Cantus Firmus (under conductor A. Hurgin) and Cantilena (under conductor A. Istomin), and works regularly in "Russian Duet" with balalaika player Dmitri Kalinin - who is likewise featured here at the Classical Archives.
