Marina Karpechenko was born in Moscow, and completed her musical studies at the Gnessin College of Music in 1988, and then at the Gnessin Academy of Music in 1993. In 1994 she became a soloist with the Helikon-Opera company in Moscow, performing the roles of Annina in Verdi's La Traviata and Fraskita in Bizet's Carmen. Other key roles since then have included Lyzhen in Bach's Coffee Cantata, Brigitta in Tchaikovsky's Iolanta, Julietta in Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann, Parasha in Stravinsky's Mavra, and title roles in Verdi's Aida (Aida) and Macbeth (Lady Macbeth). She has participated in performances by the company at such prestigious halls as the Groses Festpielhaus in Salzburg and the Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris, and has joined them in tours of the US, France, Spain, and Lebanon.
Marina is a regular soloist at the leading halls in Moscow, including the Tchaikovsky and the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, performing solo arias and duets from various operas. Increasingly - and as demonstrated in these recordings - Marina is focusing on the lieder repertory of such composers as Brahms, Mahler, Mahler, and Hugo Wolf.
