Kirill Rodin was born in Moscow in 1963 and studied at the Gnessin Special Music School. He received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Moscow Conservatory, where he studied with professors Vera Birina and Natalia Schakhovskaya.
Rodin won First Prize at the XIV Jeunesses Musicales Competition for Cellists in Belgrade in 1984, and was awarded the Gold Medal at the VIII International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1986.
Rodin's concert tours as recitalist and soloist with orchestra have taken him to over 50 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and the Americas. His discography includes works by Bach, Beethoven, Haydn, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, and Piazzola.
Kirill Rodin has led master classes in German, Spain, Japan, South Korea, and Australia, and he holds the position of Professor of Cello at the Moscow Conservatory.
