Dmitry Tatarkin was born in Russia in 1972 and began his musical studies at age 15, with guitarist B.V.Appelinksy. From there he entered the Shebalin Music College, studying with K.E.Belyakov, and then the Gnessin Music Academy, studying with Prof.Frauchi and graduating in 2001.
Among Dmitry's awards thus far include 1st Prize at the "Guitar and Flute Duo" Competition (Wiekersheim, Germany, 2003), and Laureates at the Sixth All-Russian V.V.Andreev Competition (2001) and the Sixth "Guitar in Russia" Competition (2002).
Dmitry has worked and recorded with several orchestras, led by such conductors as Y.Nikolaensky, V.Zhuk, N.Kalinin, A.Slutsky, and others. He has a particular affinity for contemporary music and has collaborated with several composers - including Efrem Podgaits, V.Bkitashev, G.Djaparidze, and others. He currently teaches at the Maymonid Moscow State Classics Academy.
