Tigran Hakhnazaryan

The conductor Tigran Hakhnazaryan was born in 1978 in Yerevan, Armenia, and graduated from the Yerevan Conservatory in 2000, where he studied opera and symphony conducting with Emin Khachaturian. He also studied violin at the conservatory under Souren Hakhnazaryan. In 1998-99, Mr. Hakhnazaryan studied at the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory with Ilya Musin - who likewise trained such prominent conductors as Yuri Temirkanov, Valery Gergiev, and Semyon Bychkov.

Mr. Hakhnazaryan's conducting career began while still a student, conducting the St. Petersburg Conservatory Symphony Orchestra (1998-99) and the Yerevan Symphony Orchestra (2000). In 2001, at the age of 23, he was invited to replace the principal conductor and artistic director of the National Symphony Orchestra of Bashkortostan (Russia), with which he performed more than thirty concerts that year. He is now a guest conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Bashkortostan. He has likewise given concerts as guest conductor of the Kislovodsk Philharmonic Orchestra (Russia) and the Donetsk Symphony Orchestra (Ukraine). In addition, he recently conducted the Volgograd Symphony Orchestra (Russia).
