Diana Petrova was born in 1979 in St. Petersburg, and began her serious musical studies at the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College, and then at the St. Petersburg University of Culture and the Arts, where she studied choral conducting. In 2001, she entered the St. Petersburg Conservatory, studying opera singing with S.B.Nikulshin, and graduated in 2005; since then she has been pursuing post-graduate work at the Zurich Conservatory, where she is a member of the Swiss Opera Studio, housed at the Theater Biel-Solothum. She likewise has taken Master Classes from such teachers as Laura Sarti and Sarah Walker (England); Jard van Nes (the Netherlands); and Dorothea Galli (Switzerland).
Among the awards Ms. Petrova has received thus far include 1st Prize at the Mahutny Bosha Sacred Music Competition (Belorussia, 2005), and the Special Prize at the Karlovy Vary International Singing Competition (Czech Republic, 2002). She has performed key opera roles at the Rimsky-Korsakov Opera Theater in St. Petersburg since 2002, and has performed, as a soloist as well as with the vocal group The Soloists of St. Petersburg, in Switerland, Germany, Denmark, England, and throughout Russia.
