Elena Agababova Piano
Elena Agababova graduated from Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (1982), accomplished her post-graduate study (1989) with Professor T. N. Khrennikov, and instrumental class with Professor N. P. Rakov. She is a laureate of the D. D. Shostakovich prize of the Composers’ Union of the Russian Federation (1990).
Her main compositions are: the symphony In the Maze of Time; the suite Five Steps above the Water; Concerto Grosso for viola, piano and string orchestra; The String Quartet; The Seasons for string orchestra with the participation of the audience; the opera The Masters of Time after The Tale of the Lost Time by E. Schwarz for children and adults; The Tale of a Small Goblin, who quarreled with music; the music for the puppet-play The Hooligan Limonchik Shouts, ‘Mommy’; the music for the adaptation for stage of A Boy at Christ’s New Year Party; series for the mixed choir The Bells based on the poems by E. Poe; the triptych The Unity of Miscellanea based on the poems by G. Tabidze. Ya. Polonsky, T. Kikaku; Triptych on Folk Words; Sonata for Flute and Piano; pieces for oboe and piano; romances on the poems by A. Tolstoy; Waltz for violin and cello ensemble; ‘I Have Blended the Sun with the Sky’ – the series of songs for children’s choir; songs and music for animation cartoons.
The opera The Masters of Time was awarded a special diploma from the judges for the best music at the festival of children’s theaters The First Flight 2008. The premiere took place on The Minor Stage of the Taganka theatre (2008), the GITIS educational theatre (2008), The Theatrical Hall of Moscow International House of Music (2010).
Elena Agababova’s opuses have been repeatedly played at different concerts and festivals. Among the performers were: Moscow State Symphony Orchestra conducted by V. Dudarova; The Symphony Orchestra of Kabardino-Balkar State Philharmonic Society conducted by B. Temirkanov; the State Philharmonic of the Caucasian mineral waters conducted by S. Vlasov; chamber orchestra Ricercar conducted by Yu. Nikolaevsky; chamber orchestra The Seasons conducted by V. Bulakhov.
Elena Agababova created a new direction of concert programs The Airy music for Audience and Orchestra. The project has been implemented in cooperation with The Seasons orchestra. Since 2005 well-known composers such as M. Bronner, M. Bogdanova, A. Gladkikh, S. Zhukov, O. Troyanovsky, I. Yusupova have been involved in the project.
Elena Agababova is an active and creative performer. The series of her interactive programs for children and teenagers enjoy great popularity.
