Ellen Rabiner Mezzo-Soprano

Ellen Rabiner is an American contralto who has appeared with several important opera companies and has been a member of the company of the Metropolitan Opera since 1992.

Among the companies she has sung with, in addition to the Met, are the opera companies of San Francisco, Seattle, Washington, D.C., Nashville, Dallas, and the Santa Fe Opera and Michigan Opera Theater.

Her repertory includes Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier, Daphne, and Elektra; Schoenberg's Moses und Aron; Borodin's Prince Igor (as Konchakovna); Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk District; Puccini's Madame Butterfly; Wagner's Rheingold, Walküre, and Siegfried; Bizet's Carmen (in the title role); and Catán's Hija de Rappaccini. Among her recordings is the Telarc release of Bach's B Minor Mass, with Martin Perlman and Boston Baroque.
