Berté studied with Fuchs and Bruckner at the Conservatory of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna. He composed mainly for the stage, including six ballets and 12 operettas, the most successful of which was the operetta =Das Dreimäderlhaus= (1916). This work uses the melodies of Schubert and is a loose interpretation of his life.
