      Dilyara Gabitova

      Dilyara Gabitova was born in 1977 in Beloretsk, Bashkortostan—part of the Russian Federation. At age 6, she began studying piano at the special music school in Ufa, the capital of Bashkortostan. From 1992 to 1996, she studied piano at the Ufa Art College, at which point she began composing. In 1997, Ms.Gabitova entered the Moscow State Conservatory, studying composition with Prof. Albert Leman; upon his death in 1998, she began studies with Prof. Roman Ledeniov. She graduated in 2002, and is now working on her Ph.D. in Composition at the Conservatory. She is also a student of conducting, working since 2001 with Prof. Gennady Rozhdestvensky; she focuses in particular on conducting contemporary Russian music.
