Sergei Oskolkov

Sergei Oskolkov was born in Donetsk, Ukraine in 1952, and graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory, where he studied piano (graduating in 1977) and composition (graduating in 1981). Since completing his studies, Mr. Oskolkov has successfully pursued a career in both disciplines. As a pianist, he has toured in Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Belgium, and France, and has participated in numerous international music festivals; his repertoire focuses primarily on 19th and 20th century Russian and Western European composers, as well as the music of his contemporaries in St. Petersburg, his current base. As a composer, he was created more than 60 works of various genres, ranging from operas, cantatas, and concertos to quartets and numerous works for solo piano - such as those featured here at the Classical Archives. In addition, he has written music for theater and film, as well as for various Russian folk instrument ensembles.
