Tatiana Pavlovna Sergeyeva was born in Tver (formerly Kalinin), Russia in 1951. She is a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory, where she completed post-graduate work in composition, piano, and organ. Ms. Sergeyeva gained national attention in 1987, when she won the coveted Shostakovich Composers' Prize. Further recognition came in 1995, when she was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. She has been a member of the Russian Union of Composers since 1982.
The music of Tatiana Sergeyeva is much influenced by her love of the classical world of Ancient Greece and Rome, and in particular by its emphasis on balance and proportion. This she then balances with a degree of sensual light and a Bacchic, or Dionysian, joie de vivre. We are pleased to feature Ms. Sergeyeva's music here at the Classical Archives.
