Anton Shelepov was born in Irkutsk, Siberia in 1977, and began his musical studies at the Special Music School in Novosibirsk, Siberia; he later attended the Novosibirsk Music College, where he received his Bachelor's Degree. In 1997, Anton entered the St. Petersburg Conservatory, and following graduation took Master Classes from such distinguished violinists as G.Feldgun, A.Kazarina, T.Varga, and Z.Bron.
While at the Conservatory, Anton performed with the St. Petersburg Camerata, and later formed the Krasni Quartet, with whom he recorded 5 CDs for the British Olympia label. Anton won a number of awards as a soloist, including the David Oistrakh Award from the Glory Foundation (1999) and the International Vronsky Competition in Poland - for his performance of the Ysaye Violin Sonata, featured here at the Classical Archives. Upon graduation, he was asked to join the Kremlin Chamber Orchestra, likewise featured at the Archives, becoming its assistant concertmaster. As a soloist, he has given recitals in Russia, the US, Italy, Germany, France, and Latin America. He has performed works by a number of contemporary composers, including the American John Corigliano. Anton is himself a composer.
