Alexey Sokolov was born in Moscow in 1978 and graduated from the Moscow State Institute of Music "A.G.Schnitke", where he studied composition under Professor Jury Vostrelov. Since graduating in 2000, Alexey has had his works performed in such prestigious Russian venues as the Great Hall of the Gnessin Music Academy in Moscow, and by such esteemed musicians as Philip Subbotin, Dmitry Kalinin, and Aydar Gajnullin. He has written numerous piano and chamber works, including works for Russian folk instruments such as the bayan and balalaika. Alexey also has performed as a pianist and bayanist throughout Russia, as well as in Austria, Germany, Finland, the Czech Republic, and Sweden.
