Born in Ukraine in 1953, Serge Yuchkevitch began his musical studies at the age of three. In 1969, he entered the Moscow Central School, receiving his diploma in 1976. Among his awards are a Silver Medal at The Queen Elizabeth International Competition in Brussels, for which he also won a Special Prize of the City of Brussels. He has recorded for both the Deutsche Grammphon and Suoni e Colori labels, and gives frequent recitals throughout the former Soviet Union, Belgium, France, and Hungary.
Yuchkevitch has taught since 1976 at the Kharkov Beaux-Arts Institute in Ukraine, and has mentored several students who have gone on to win national and international competitions. In addition, Yuchkevitch is a prolific author, including a work on the piano transcriptions of Rachmaninov.
