Orlando J. Garcia emigrated to Miami, FL, in 1961 and then moved to Maryland. He has a doctorate in composition from the University of Miami, where he studied with Dennis Kam. He also studied privately with David Del Tredici, John Corigliano, and Morton Feldman and is the president and founder of the South Florida Composers Alliance. Garcia also serves as the director of the New Music Ensemble and the Electronic Music Studio at the State University of Florida.
