Moondog (aka Louis Thomas Hardin) studied with Burnet Tuthill and at the Iowa School for the Blind. He is also self-taught in Native American music; was championed by Artur Rodzinski, the conductor of New York Philharmonic in the '40s; and lived for three decades on streets of New York City. He was an instrument inventor, builder, and poet who spent the latter part of his life in Germany, where his music and recordings were published.
