Anima Vocal Ensemble Chorus/Choir
The Anima Vocal Ensemble was formed in 1994 by soprano Marina Sechkina, a graduate of the Nizhniy Novgorod Conservatory, as a small chamber choir capable of performing a wide range of music from different styles and periods. Although they possess a wide repertory, they focus much on rich literature of Russian sacred music - the prayers and chants of the Russian Orthodox Church, by composers such as Berezovksy and Davydov, as well as Tchaikovsky, Ippolitov-Ivanov, Chesnokov, and Rachmaninov. Such is featured here at the Classical Archives.
Anima is already the laureate of several competitions, including the All-Russian Choral Competition (1996) and the International Choral Competitions in Tampere (Finland) and Athens. Other members of the group include Tatiana Marakunina (alto), Alexander Lapshin (tenor), Sergey Birov (baritone), and Dmitry Sitnikov (bass).Anima Vocal Ensemble
