DOMENICO ZIPOLI: WORKS FOR HARPSICHORD AND ORGAN These are the works (complete, as far as I know) for harpsichord and organ of Domenico Zipoli (Prato (Italy), 1688 - Cordoba (Argentina), 1726). As to harpsichord works, they are clearly grouped into four Suites, although the "partitas" which close Suites no. 3 and 4 have been in the past considered as separate compositions (ed. Walsh (London) 1725: "Six Suites of Italian Lessons"). For organ works, the score gives no grouping, but tonality allows to determine, for convenience, the groups of four "Verses" plus one "Canzona". The works of Zipoli, nowadays not widely known, encountered significant success at the time. Indeed, while the technique is mostly simple, these compositions are able to express a versatile and often attractive language. Leonardo Collinelli
