Paolo Volante was born in 1964 in Turin, Italy, where he still lives, but his family roots link him to a more European culture (his grandparents were from Paris, France and Pula, Slovenia). He began studying piano and composition in 1974, with M.Schiaparelli, then he continued his studies in jazz piano with P.Pia and A.Rindone. Since 1989, Paolo has given hundreds of performances throughout the world. In 1996, he co-founded, with the poetess Patrizia Brai, La Città del Jazz, now a leading producer of jazz in Italy. In 2000, he became a member of SIAE (Italian Association of Authors and Editors) as a composer and lyricist. In addition to classical, Paolo is also a pop and jazz composer. In 2002, he composed "Frammenti in Poesia", originally conceived as background music for the poems of Patrizia Brai, contained in the award-winning book "Cammino - The Journey". "Frammenti in Poesia" is conceived as a set of 26 "Fragments", each of them devoted to a single poem. Volante's work has a very personalized style, receiving inspiration from various different roots, from French Impressionism and Romanticism to jazz and European folk music.
