Archives of Classical MIDI Sequences

Go right to the Index.

If your setup includes MIDI capability, you may directly listen to (or else download) these collected (Western) Classical Music Midi Sequences...

Click MIDI GATE if you are a Windows user and your browser cannot launch your midi application and automatically play a sequence.

The sequences prepared by myself are marked with an asterix (*). Credit is due for all the others to their respective compilers. Typical of the Net, some sequences have been submitted without attribution. If you do recognize your work, please send me a credit request at prs@hk.net so that I may properly reference your work with your name or email address.

If you object to the presence of one of your sequence in these archives, let me know right away - it will be immediately removed. PRS makes no other warranties express or implied as to the copyrights of the material included in these archives.

You are encouraged to submit your own Classical Music Midi sequences to prs@hk.net by either attaching a uuencoded sequence (or uuencoded zip-compressed collection of sequences) to your message, or (preferred) by giving a complete and accurate URL address so that a link to your file can be established. (No links to compressed files please - only .mid). Make sure that your message contains a complete description of the work - including

  1. Composer
  2. Title (complete)
  3. Name (if available) of the sequence's compiler (+email address)
  4. Copyright notice and permission.
UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED, ALL SUBMITTED SEQUENCES WILL BE DEEMED TO BE IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN.

If you submit an important contribution and you have a text file documenting your work, please send it as well. (See John Sankey's comments with regards to his Scarlatti sequence collection for a model.) I wish to thank Ed Griffin in particular for the contribution of his enormous collection.

I am pleased and regret to say that some sequences are quite beautiful while others are rather atrocious... The latter ones are offered here as raw material for further private enhancements.

These archives will, as a rule, only contain one sequence per work. If several sequences are available for the same work, PRS reserves the right to choose the most accurate and pleasing sequence for that work. General MIDI patching is strongly suggested.
FYI, I'm using a Roland Sound Canvas General Midi synthesizer.

Several of the sequences' composer, title, or arranger is/are unknown. PLEASE DO HELP!
