This toccata is the last of the six toccatas in Froberger's Libro quarto of 1656. It is in seven sections like the fourth of the toccatas in Libro quarto. It alternates free rhapsodic quasi-improvisatory sections with sections of imitative counterpoint. This toccata features some of Froberger's most hyper, and flashy passage work in the free sections of the piece. The three imitative sections in this toccata do not feature thematically related subjects as is usually the case in the toccatas of the Libro secondo.
