This is one of De Curtis' later songs, written in 1935 for a movie of the same title, featuring the tenor, Beniamino Gigli, who helped make many Italian songs famous. The title translates as "Don't forget me." Unlike a majority of De Curtis' songs, the text is not in the Neapolitan dialect, but in standard Italian. Also unlike many of his songs, the performer sings that his home is "cold and sunless, " in contrast to, for example, Torna a Surriento. "The swallows have left my cold and sunless land, searching for spring and violets, nests of love and happiness. My little swallow has left, without leaving me a kiss, without a goodbye, she left." This almost recitative- like verse leads to the familiar and melodic refrain, "Don't forget me, my life is tied to you. I love you more and more, you are always in my dreams." Often in recordings, as in the movie, a chorus picks up the refrain, and then it returns to the soloist, who ends on a moderately high note. The warmth and ease of the melody, which remains in the major key, give the song, despite the rather gloomy introduction, an optimistic tone, expecting the end of this separation.
