Musicology:
This lively song shows the lighter side of Meyerbeer, something that his major operas do only rarely. The singer calls to the pretty young fisherwoman to come to him and rest her head on his heart. The simple chordal accompaniment keeps a sparkling rhythm while the vocal lines vividly show the suitor's eagerness. The refrain, with its repeated "komm" (come), is persuasive and passionate, but still with a touch of lightness. -
