Debussy's Morceau de concours (1903 - 04) is a tiny, clever work written for a composer identification contest sponsored by the magazine Musica. Its impish quality derives largely from the inclusion of eleven measures from Debussy's abandoned opera on Poe's The Devil in the Belfry.
