Symphony in D, K. 81 (No.44)Key: D
Year: 1770
Genre: Symphony
Pr. Instrument: Orchestra
- 1.Allegro
- 2.Andante
- 3.Allegro molto
This was one of those symphonies that was discovered after the "official" list of 41 symphonies was drawn up. It was misleadingly tagged as "No. 44." It was composed in Rome. It has a marchlike opening, and the finale is almost a waltz. The key of D is common to a group of symphonies all apparently written there; this key facilitated the use of trumpets to evoke the style of the most popular Italian comic operas. Overall, it is a carefree and charming work.
