This short work (16 measures) is a mock-solemn funeral march composed with the tongue-in-cheek designation "sulla morte del Sg. Maestro Contrapuncto" ("on the death of Lord Master Counterpoint"). It features a cortege-like movement with prominent dotted rhythms. In the first half Mozart writes a rule-breaking chord progression complete with some offically forbidden parallel fifths, and in the second he slips a bathos-riddled chromatic scalar figure into the melodic line.
