Musicology:
This work is a concerto ripieno (full concerto) with no featured soloists. The opening Allegro begins deliberately and intently over a steadily walking bass line. The opening motif moves with a notable syncopated strut, and some of the sequential passages feature some intriguing chromatic progressions. There are two very independent violin parts that often imitate each other.
