This song, whose title translates as "The Chimney Sweep, " is set to a poem by S. Manfredo Maggioni. The speaker tells of his ugliness, his arduous existence, and his happiness that is second to none. The music begins with an unaccompanied and missaccentuated proclamation in the manner of a street cry and goes on to some staccato-paced melodies that are by turns nonchalant, by turns more resolute, and always undoubtedly happy. Each verse starts out by strutting along with a proclamatory tone in duple meter, and then goes on to a second part that lilts in three-to-a-bar. The melody of the duple-metered sections features some interesting chromatic turns.
