Musicology:
This work was written for the 300th anniversary of the settling of Jamestown, Virginia. A chromatic introduction leads to the chatty minor-mode main theme that features lots of repeated notes. The second section holds forth in the major mode, with a more straightforward lyricism. The trio features a playfully talkative tune that takes several turns to the minor mode, and the break strain is relatively restrained, featuring some intriguing chromatic swirls. -
