Musicology:
Ad Dominum cum tribularer is an eight-voice psalm-motet by the renaissance English composer William Byrd (1543-1623). Links between this work and Byrd's nine-voice psalm-motet Domine quis habitabit are obvious, and the two works are though to date from the same time. Neither exists in printed form, but instead, are each contained in a unique manuscript. One notable difference is that the text Ad Dominum cum tribularer was rarely set by renaissance English composers, but Domine quis habitabit is relatively common.

Ad Dominum cum tribularer (a8)Genre: Motet
Pr. Instrument: Chorus/Choir
The composition of an eight-voice psalm-motet is a highly ambitious project for a young composer, especially as Byrd insists of using eight-voice polyphony for the majority of the work. The writing style is almost entirely uniform, which lends itself to a certain monotony.
