Gaudeamus omnes (a5)Genre: Motet
Pr. Instrument: Chorus/Choir
This is a very rhythmically variable motet, and is consequently a difficult work to perform. The minim pulse against which the rhythm sometimes moves in crotchets and the complex rhythmic anticipations or suspensions create a rhythmic complexity unmatched in the 1605 Gradualia. Perhaps because of this, the tonality is kept very simple, not moving outside of a C Ionian.
