The title of this song translates as "To a Star." It is an introspective and contemplative song set to a poem by Andrea Maffei that contrasts the lovely star of the night that is free of cares with the poor human soul imprisoned in earthly concerns. The singer projects the intense feeling of the music through sustained, longing singing lines, and the accompaniment makes much of repeated chords, some of which are peaceful, some brooding. The third verse introduces a bit of a somber mood as the speaker sings of sins and sorrows.
