This work is a single-movement keyboard sonata that is often driven by staccato pronouncements. In some places it comes off as comically sneaky. The beginning fragments the theme between contrasting registers of the keyboard, and then the music falls into a more regular jaunty swagger and later into some flowing lyricism. There are several provocative single-line statements in the bass.
