later, and Sweelinck is a pioneer. It is essentially a harmonization
and elaboration of a simple hymn tune. This short work, rich in
decoration, has a variety of treatments of the basic material.
Think of it as a "cover" of a familiar song, or as a decorated
capital letter in an illuminated manuscript.
