  • Wenn ich, Herr Jesu, habe dich, for alto, 2 violins and continuo, BuxWV107
    Genre: Other Solo Vocal
    Pr. Instrument: Alto

This cantata sets a sacred song by Anna Sophia von Hessen-Darmstadt from a collection entitled Der treue Seelenfreund Christus Jesus, published in 1658. Like BuxWV 105, the work is really a sacred Lied. It is a simple strophic setting of strophic poetry. Buxtehude scores the work for two violins, alto, and continuo. The violins never play at the same time as the alto, but play a brief "sonatina" prelude as well as a brief ritornello in between verses of the song.
