    Genre: Other Choral
    Pr. Instrument: Chorus/Choir

In this cantata Buxtehude employs a text by Ernst Christoph Homburg from the Geistlicher Lieder Erster Theil, 1659. The work is scored for alto, tenor, bass, two violins, viola, violone, and basso continuo. Buxtehude sets eight stanzas of text in a sort of set of variations. Each stanza is set to different music, but in each verse the bass line remains the same. Also each verse is separated by a different variation above the same bass line played by the strings. Some verses are scored for all three singers, and some are scored just for a solo singer. Each singer gets an opportunity to sing a verse solo with just the continuo for accompaniment.
