Musicology:
The Bluebird pas de deux is an arrangement of a portion of Tchaikovsky's The Sleeping Beauty ballet made by Stravinsky in New York in 1941 for the Ballet Theater of New York. Due to the restrictions imposed on the company because of the war, Stravinsky scored the work for flute, oboe, two clarinets, bassoon, horn, two trumpets, two trombones, timpani, piano, violin, viola, cello, and double bass. Because the resulting work sounds more like Stravinsky than Tchaikovsky (compare it with Stravinsky's "Tchaikovsky" ballet Le Baiser de la fée [1928]), the Bluebird pas de deux is often listed as part of Stravinsky's oeuvre. -
