Sea Drift, for baritone, chorus, and orchestra, RTii/3Year: 1904
Genre: Other Choral
Pr. Instrument: Baritone
Delius was one of many turn-of-the-century English composers who were deeply attracted to the poetry of Whitman. Sea-Drift, for baritone, chorus, and orchestra is a surging, passionate large-scale work about grief, symbolized by a sea-bird which has lost its mate, the bird's return and incessant search for its lost love seen through the eyes of a boy watching from the shore. This deeply touching music seems alive with the rhythms of the sea and the wheeling flight of the birds.
