Yuletide Pieces (2) for piano, Op.19Year: 1920
- Impromptu
- March Carillon
These two pieces are among the first published works of Hanson. They were written in 1920. The first, an Impromptu in E minor, is an intense piece with a lyrical central section. The second is called Carillon in G major. It is a piece of marching rhythm punctuated by heavy chords. The style is reminiscent of Rachmaninoff's.
