This cantata sets Psalm 52:12-14. Typical of Buxtehude's psalm settings, it is in the concerto style. It is scored for two violins, viola da gamba, and continuo. The work is divided into two sections. The first is a rather lyrical section, full of careful attention to specific words in the text. For instance the word "nicht" is repeated in a halting manner at the end of the section. The second section is in a cheerful lilting triple meter.
