    Year: c.1928
This dance interlude from the 1928 musical Rosalie bears affinities with Gershwin's great song "They All Laughed," from the 1937 film Shall We Dance?. The piano arrangement appears in The George Gershwin Song-Book, a 1932 publication that included eighteen Gershwin songs, together with the composer's own arrangements of them. These arrangements, aimed at strong pianists, were derived from Gershwin's own frequent impromptu performances, and give valuable insight into Gershwin's own performance practices and the pianistic roots of his style. The piano ornamentation in this little arrangement reminds one of the style of novelty pianist Zez Confrey, who influenced Gershwin's own playing.
