Musicology:
This Praeludium in D major is one of Buxtehude's cheerier pieces. The sectional division in this piece is a bit ambiguous. It begins with a free toccata section followed by fugue then a string of different non-imitative sections. The material after the fugal section is varied and full of contrast. -
