The text of this chorale has its basis in Matthew 11:28-30, when Jesus invites all those who are heavy laden to "Come unto me, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light." The text of the first verse reads, "'Come unto me' speaks the son of God, 'all ye that are heavy laden and burdened with heavy sins, All ye young, old, women and men, I will give unto you what I have, I want to heal your wounds." The chorale melody appears in the soprano range with elegant ornamentation.
