Leonard Bernstein conducted the orchestra during the inaugural gala for

J.F.Kennedy, and the concert included this brief fanfare especially written

for the occasion. Although lasting less than thirty seconds, the typical style

of the composer of "West Side Story" is apparent in the piece.
