Alexei Koshvanets

Alexei Koshvanets was born in Odessa in 1961. He received his early musical training at the Kharkov Music School in the classes of Professors V.Seduch and I.Zaslavsky. In 1978, Koshvanets moved to Moscow, where he became a student at the College of the Moscow Conservatory in the classes of Professors N.Beshkina and B.Belenky. After graduation, Koshvanets entered the Moscow Conservatory, where he continued his undergraduate studies with Professor Belenky, and completed his graduate studies in the class of Professor V.Klimov.

Koshvanets has won First Prizes in three international competitions: the Bach Competition in Leipzig (Germany) in 1984, the Carl Nielsen competition in Odens (Denmark) in 1987, and the Bellini competition in Caltanisetto (Italy) in 1995. He has perfomed recitals and appeared at international festivals in Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Finland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Japan, and Korea. Koshvanets has appeared as soloist with the Staatskapelle of Dresden, the Hanover Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo NHK Orchestra, the Gewandhaus Orchestra, and others, appearing under the batons of Kurt Mazur, Valery Gergiev, Pavel Kogan, and Thomas Zanderling.

Alexei Koshvanets leads master classes in Russia and abroad, and has taught at the Moscow Conservatory since 1991. He is also an active participant of the charity activities of the World Fund. Recently, Koshvanets has begun working to apply developing computer technology to the creation of richer musical sound on recordings. In collaboration with Dmitry Elshev and Sergei Grigoriev, has also begun to create and produce a series of computer games devoted to music education.
